Why You Should Use a Skin Tint with SPF
SPF should always be a part of your daily morning routine. Regular daily use is invaluable in helping reduce your chances of developing skin cancer. An added bonus? It also helps prevent premature aging caused by sun exposure, such as hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and sagging. No matter your age, you need to be using SPF!
Thankfully, it’s very easy to incorporate SPF into your daily routine. Aside from using a plain sunscreen, there are plenty of options with SPF that have added benefits and bonuses – from tinted moisturizers and powders, to foundations and – our favorite – skin tints.
Skin tint with SPF – the best of all worlds
Looking to protect your skin from sun damage? Want sheer makeup coverage for a fresh-faced, natural look? How about nourishing and clean beauty ingredients that hydrate your skin and help prevent problems? We have great news for you – a skin tint with SPF will do all of this.
What is skin tint used for? It offers light coverage and a hint of pigment, making it the best when you’re looking for the ultimate no-makeup makeup look. Skin tints have a very thin texture that makes them feel like a silky serum when applying. The buildable sheer texture melts into your skin for a dewy finish that makes you look like you just woke up fresh-faced and glowing.
The best skin tint with SPF should offer at least SPF 30 or higher to be functional and offer proper protection. Thankfully, as long as this threshold is met, tinted moisturizers and skin tints offer just as much protection as non-tinted options. To ensure you’re applying enough for proper coverage, apply a pea-sized drop across your face – one for each cheek, your forehead, and chin/neck. If you’re trying to go as sheer as possible, you should apply a sheer SPF lotion or clean beauty moisturizer with SPF underneath your skin tint.
How often should I apply SPF?
It’s important to remember that skin tints with SPF only last about 2 hours, so it’s not enough to only apply in the morning. We recommend reapplying or following up with a brush-on mineral sunscreen throughout the day to keep your skin protected. Often overlooked is the neck and chest – these areas need to be protected too! You can blend your skin tint or tinted moisturizer down your neck and across your décolletage, or opt for a traditional sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. Whatever option you decide, don’t skip on this!
Our Life’s a Beach Skin Tint contains SPF 31, making it perfect for daily use. Beyond makeup and skin protection, the ingredients also actively restores your complexion, reduces skin irritation, and fights off free radicals. Hyaluronic acid retains skin moisture and promotes anti-aging, deep sea water is rich in minerals that strengthen the skin barrier, and green tea leaf extract calms irritated skin and helps prevent clogged pores.
